United States Congressman Brett Guthrie was a guest Wednesday morning on the Joe Lowe Morning Show. I asked the congressman to explain what is going on in Washington regarding the budget and the continued stalemate on tax breaks that are due to end soon.

Guthrie pointed out that the House has passed a budget many times recently only to have the Senate fail to agree or produce their own. Guthrie pointed out how important it is to work towards eliminating the current debt and to work towards Medicare reform without harming those who paid into the system.

Guthrie also pointed out that the debt could be erased in 15-30 years depending on the level of Medicare reform. He also stressed his agreement with those in congress who feel it is time to end coperate tax advantages and loopholes.

The Congressman also talked about American productivity saying he plans to discuss this issue when he meets with the Rotary Club at noon and at plants in nearby Hawesville in the afternoon.

The morning interview also focused on the Memorial Day Weekend with Guthrie talking about the Rolling Thunder Protest Ride to D.C. and how proud he is of our service men and women.

For those who missed the interview this morning, I have posted the entire unedited interview here:
