The Daviess-McLean County Baptist Center provides help to many different families in our community.  This year they are helping kids get prepared to head back to school.

ALWAYS DEPENDABLE

Several families depend on the baptist mission for a hand-up during the year.  Before school starts they always try to help ease the parent's minds and build each child's confidence by making sure they are fully prepared for school.

AFTERSCHOOL SERVICES

They also host "The Zone" afterschool program for students in the Mechanicsville neighborhood each week during the school year.  Afterschool activities will be dependant upon COVID-19 and the availability of volunteers for the program.

ITEMS AVAILABLE DURING THE BACK TO SCHOOL BASH

The following items will be included in the annual backpack giveaway depending on the age and grade of each child:

  • Pens/Pencils
  • Pencil Sharpeners

Relive 1980s Elementary School Gym Class

If you are a Generation X or Millenial like me, you likely have some strong memories of gym class. Either you loved it or hated it. I made some fun memories and built character and muscle, but I'm really glad I never have to go back and face some of these things again! And I know my teachers did their best to make gym enjoyable and teach us life skills. They succeeded - this is all in good fun. And, hopefully, future generations will get to thoroughly enjoy some of these as much as I did!
