DCHS CyberPatriot Team Claims First in State Competition

The CyberPatriot program was created by the U.S. Air Force Association. It's goal is to inspire and challenge students to learn more about careers in cybersecurity as well as the skills necessary to pursue and excel in those careers.

The Daviess County High School CyberPatriot Team may well be on its way to such a goal.

There were 31 teams participating at the CyberPatriot XII state competition December 6th and our CyberPatriot Panthers won FIRST PLACE.

Nationally, nearly 7,000 students from across the U.S. and Canada, not to mention students who are enrolled in Department of Defense Dependent schools all over the world, were also in competition.

Now, the DCHS team will move on to the semifinal round and will compete on Saturday, January 25th from 9AM to 2PM.

Top teams from the online preliminary rounds win an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington DC for the live National Finals Competition.

Congratulations to Coach Michael Gatrost--the Naval JROTC instructor at DCHS--and his team of top-flight CyberPatriots--team captain Micah Rice, Madison Kelley, Samuel Manqueros, Shelby Taylor, John Vanover, Kali Howard, and Abel Galloway.
