Daviess County High School Dance Team Wins 3rd Consecutive National Championship
The Daviess County Pantherettes Dance Team is already great, but it's clear they're on the verge of becoming a dance dynasty. In fact, after this weekend's NDA Nationals, it appears they are one already.
The DCHS Dance Team won their third consecutive national championship Sunday. They took home the top prize in the Medium Game Day Division. Last night, the team got together on the Owensboro Riverfront to celebrate their victory.
This year, dance competitions have had a completely different look and feel due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, I emceed the KHSAA Region 3 & 4 Cheer event on Saturday in Louisville. There was no awards ceremony and teams found out later in the day, via social media, how they placed and if they qualified for the State Championships in mid-May. For the NDA Nationals, the teams didn't even dance in person. They were asked to record their competition pieces and submit them for judging. That's exactly what the Daviess County Dance Team. They submitted two performances- one in the Hip Hop division and one for the Game Day Division.

For the Pantherettes, that particular recorded performance was close to perfection and they snagged their second consecutive "Game Day" national championship. They won a national title in the same event last year. In 2019, they brought home a national title in Hip Hop.
The Daviess County Pantherettes are coached by Debbie Connor, her daughter Kendal and former DCHS Pantherette Lauren Watts.
This morning, I had Debbie on the show to chat about the big win!
Also, a shout out this morning to the dance team from Henderson County. They won a national title as well. They claimed the top honors in the Small Game Day Division.
Here are the top 25 hits of the ‘80s based on their overall popularity.
