Yet another reason why Dolly Parton is a cultural icon!  Over the weekend, as a matter of fact on Christmas Day, Kentucky State Representative Josie Raymond shared some exciting news on her official Facebook page.  That news was from Dolly!  It's happening. Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is coming to ALL of Kentucky next year.

That's incredible news because Imagination Library is an incredible and proven literary program.  Dolly started Imagination Library, which essentially gifts free books to children up to the age of five, way back in 1995.  The program's roots are in Sevier County, Tennessee, where Dolly's from, and is based at Dollywood.

Since its inception, Imagination Library's popularity has skyrocketed and the program has expanded into nearly 2,000 communities in the United States and beyond.  According to the latest stats, Dolly sends out approximately 1.3 million books to children every month.

Starting in 2022, every child (up to the age of five) in Kentucky is going to be eligible for the program.  That news was confirmed over the weekend by Representative Raymond.

If you CLICK HERE, you can see if the program is already available in your area.  Of course, Dolly and the folks at Imagination Library encourage you to keep checking back because the program will indeed be expanding across the entirety of the Commonwealth during 2022.

For instance, here in Daviess County, the program is already active and is accessed through Audubon Area Community Services at 1800 W. 4th Street, Owensboro.  As of this story, the number of children served by this particular affiliate is 3216.  Statewide, there are currently 44,078 kids enrolled in the program.  Of course, that number is going to grow exponentially as Imagination Library continues to expand throughout Kentucky.
