Angel here. There are a total of six people in my house plus a pup and two cats so clutter is our middle name. I have decided it is time to get our lives together and I found five ways to help me do it.
Earlier this year Joe and I decided we would open a booth at the Owensboro Peddlers Mall to get rid of some of our unwanted stuff. It has been a great help but old habits die hard and I love stuff.
Angel's Top Five Picks To De-Clutter Your Home
#1 The Joy of Less, Author Francine Jay
In this book, Francine Jay helps us find ways to live a much simpler life. Most people just go all in and spend hours upon hours getting rid of collected items. Jay shares ways to form new habits, paving the way to lasting success. Her easy-to-follow STREAMLINE method works in any space - from a single drawer to a closet, room, or entire house. What's more, it can be called upon during clutter-inducing life events such as moving, getting married, having kids, or downsizing.
Purchase the book here and get started on your joy before the end of the year.
#4 Foldable Closet Storage Bins Cubes Dividers
It is no secret that I am a bit obsessed with clothes. I love it all. My drawers are a hot mess. I have tried rolling my clothes, laying flat, throwing them in and nothing calms my OCD. I finally found these awesome little cubed bins that fit right down inside my drawers to help me stay organized. My socks stay together, my workout clothes don't get mixed in with my pajamas and all is well in my world.
Purchase the bins right here. My OCD has calmed.
#3 Makeup Organizer & Jewelry Storage Display Case
I have heard that everyone has a vice. Mine is earrings and jewelry. And as if my momma was laughing at me from heaven I love lipsticks. When I was a kid I would get into my momma's purse and she had a separate bag just for all her lipsticks. I never understood and now I do.
This multipurpose organizer can be used all together or taken apart and has four different storage areas. I was super surprised to see that it didn't cost much more than the price of a great tube of lipstick to add it to my closet.
#2 Over The Door Hanging File Organizer Wall Mounted
One of the worst problems we have in our house is mail collecting, school papers piling up, and magazines all over the place. A file organizer seemed like a great way suggestion to help get it all in check but it was still in eyesight. This Over The Door Hanging File Organizer is just what I needed to put it out of sight and out of mind.
Honestly, you could even use it inside a closet for flip flops, wallets, scarfs, etc.
#1 Joy Mangano Huggable Hangers
My absolute must-have closet accessories are Joy Mangano Huggable Hangers. I stumbled across these little pieces of gold watching the QVC one night during the holidays. Joy was running a big holiday special and got a ton of these babies. I fell in love with them and when I can find them I buy them because they literally transform your closet and give you lots of room to buy more clothes (crap I am supposed to be de-cluttering) none the less these are a necessity for anybody who owns clothing. The velvet coating also keeps clothes from slipping which makes them perfect for tank tops and dresses.
These are by far my favorite and I love that they come in multiple colors to match any decor or design.
Here's hoping this list helps you find joy, those missing socks from the laundry, and enough spare change to get a pumpkin spice latte.
