Way back in 2013, 8-year-old Gavin Howard walked into the WBKR studio to present his birthday money for the kids of St. Jude, He presented $322 at our radiothon.

When Gavin returned for his second on-air appearance in 2014, he presented us with $12,000. The gang was speechless.

Fast forward to 2022, and not only has Gavin expanded his fundraising beyond his birthday money, but he has also continued to raise thousands, yes thousands, for St. Jude. One of the first ventures Howard came up with for raising money is uniquely designed t-shirts. Ever since 2015, Gavin and his family have been selling t-shirts, usually alongside Jerry Morris and the Angels for Ashley cooking team. Gavin will share with us each year's design a couple of months ahead of the next radiothon.

The Penny War out at St. Mary of the Woods and Whitesville-Trinity schools has helped raise money with the help of Gavin; he continues to inspire not only other kids, his classmates, but his entire community.

Back in November, the Howards embarked on a new fundraiser, the "Jammin' for St. Jude" concert in Philpot. Now 16-year-old Gavin plays guitar and he sings.

For this year's WBKR Window World St. Jude Radiothon, Gavin and his family raised $28,715 for the kids of St.Jude.

Although Covid has caused St. Jude to suspend all in-person tours at this time, Gavin is ready to go when it's time, it's been one of his personal goals. By the way, you can take a virtual tour of the Memphis campus HERE. We can't wait to see what Gavin and his family come up with next.
