An immersive experience is happening for a limited time in Illinois where you can step aboard the Titanic.

The Titanic

While many know the gist of what happened to Titanic, it's important to know the historical significance of Titanic sinking.  The Titanic was a British Luxury Passenger Liner that sank on April 14th, 1912. According to Britannica,  even though the Titanic sailed more than 112 years ago, it remains one of the most famous tragedies in modern history.  More than 1,500 people died aboard the Titanic and in the years since the sinking of the Titanic, numerous books and movies have been inspired by the devastation.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Titanic's sinking catalyzed change in many laws.

The sinking of Titanic was one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in history and quickly became a catalyst for change. The United States Congress held hearingsoffsite link on the casualty that resulted in a reportoffsite link and measures to improve safety of navigationoffsite link. Similar investigations were held in the United Kingdom.

The Titanic was lost to sea for decades, until 1985 when it was discovered about 350 miles off the coast of Newfoundland, and about 12,500 feet below the ocean surface.

Titanic's Story Captivates People To This Day

Even still, the sinking of the Titanic captivates people.  The popularity of the 1998 James Cameron film, Titanic also helped to revitalize folks' curiosity in the historical tragedy.  An immersive Titanic exhibit is happening for a limited time in Illinois if you want to learn more about the history and significance of Titanic.

The Titanic Exhibition

Now through July 7th on select dates, The Titanic Exhibition will take place in Chicago, Illinois.  The Titanic Exhibition has been called an immersive experience where you can experience what life was like aboard the Titanic.

 It brings with it an interactive experience that allows you to step inside recreations of the Titanic’s interior. Immerse yourself in the stories of its passengers, see hundreds of artifacts, and discover the tale of the design, creation, launch, maiden voyage, and tragedy of the historic ship.

According to The Titanic Exhibition's website, not only will you get to see a recreation of the grand staircase, but there will also be real artifacts from the shipwreck on display.  When you arrive, you will be given the name of a real passenger who was aboard the Titanic. Throughout your visit, you can learn their story.
