Anyone who played baseball as a kid had the dream that one day they'd get the chance to play the game professionally. For one former Mt. Vernon High School standout, that dream became a reality and will continue next season as a member of the Evansville Otters.

Evansville Otters Begin Building 2024 Roster

The Evansville Otters are coming off an overall successful 2023 season that saw them advance to the Frontier League Championship Series where they fought hard against the defending league champs, the Québec Capitales, forcing a decisive game five in front of a record-breaking crowd at Bosse Field. Unfortunately, the Otters lost the game and the series three games to two, giving the Capitales their second-straight league championship.

But, as any pro athlete will tell you, win or lose, that series is in the past and now the focus turns to the upcoming season. The team announced on Tuesday it has started building the roster for the 2024 season with the signing of catcher Logan Brown.

Following his playing days at Mt. Vernon in 2015, Logan continued his baseball career at the University of Southern Indiana where he hit a .310 batting average in his three seasons and helped Coach Tracy Archuleta's team advance to the NCAA Division II Midwest Regionals each year and the Division II Championship Series in 2016 and 2018.

After his collegiate career came to an end, he was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 35th round of the 2018 MLB June Amateur Draft. From 2018 to 2022, he worked his way up the organization, making it as high as Double-A Mississippi in 2022. Before signing with the Otters for next year, Logan played for the Lexington Counter Clocks in the Atlantic League.
