There's just something about a summer market that makes downtown feel more alive.

Fresh produce, local makers, food trucks, live music, people carrying a coffee while wandering booth to booth. It feels like one of those simple things that helps build connection in the community.

And now, Market on Main is officially returning for another season in downtown Evansville.

Market on Main Returns to Ford Center Plaza Beginning in June

The popular weekly market will return to the Ford Center Plaza beginning Wednesday, June 3, 2026, and will continue every Wednesday through September 30.

Market hours run from 9 am to 1 pm each week.

Located in the heart of downtown Evansville, Market on Main has become a warm-weather staple since first launching in 2019 after the longtime Friday Farmers Market disappeared.

Market on Main quickly filled a void for those of us looking to support local growers, artisans, food vendors, and small businesses while also creating another reason to spend time downtown during the week.

Expect Produce, Food Trucks, Local Vendors, and Live Music

According to organizers, visitors can expect:

  • Fresh seasonal produce
  • Artisanal goods
  • Food trucks
  • Local vendors
  • Live music
  • Family-friendly activities

And for those of us who work downtown, Market on Main has become one of the best midweek lunch break options in Evansville.

I love wandering around listening to live music while I eat lunch from one of the food trucks, and then heading back to work with fresh tomatoes, local honey, or something completely random that I didn't plan to buy 20 minutes earlier.

That's kind of the magic of markets like this.

SNAP Benefits and Double Up Program Continue

Market on Main also continues offering resources for SNAP recipients.

According to organizers, SNAP-eligible residents can purchase vouchers at the market's information booth to shop for groceries from participating local producers.

The market also participates in the Double Up program, allowing SNAP recipients to receive up to an additional $20 per market day to be used specifically for fruits and vegetables.

Officials say vouchers can also be used at the Franklin Street Bazaar on Saturdays.

Supporting Local Continues to Matter

One of the things I love most about events like Market on Main is that they make supporting local businesses feel easy and enjoyable instead of transactional.

When we shop at Market on Main, we're not just buying produce or grabbing lunch.

We're supporting local farmers, musicians, artisans, small businesses, and people trying to build something in our community.

In a world increasingly dominated by giant online retailers and chain stores, supporting local is more important than ever.
