New Documentary Examines Kentucky Legend Known as the ‘LBL Massacre’
Kentucky has had its fair share of Bigfoot sightings, to be sure. We've even heard tales of the dreaded Sheepsquatch and, of course, the legendary Pope Lick Monster or Goat Man.
The thing is, Kentucky is no different than the other 49 states. We all have our monstrous myths and legends, and they are fun stories to tell and to read about. And it does not matter that no hardcore proof of the existence of any of these cryptids has ever materialized.
But that doesn't stop a good documentarian. I mean, why CAN'T you produce a non-fiction work about something you may not believe is true. That's what Aaron Deese and his team have done. They have done a deep dive into what's become known as "LBL Massacre." It's one in a series of docs--available on Amazon--about cryptids, and not just in Kentucky. The series is called Small Town Monsters, and it began in 2015 with "Minerva Monster," one of several focusing on Bigfoot.
The newest entry--about the "LBL Massacre"--is entitled "Dogman Territory: Werewolves in the Land Between the Lakes." Yes, even TRADITIONAL monsters--if that's even a thing--have "found a home" here in our fair Commonwealth. Here's a clip:
I can assure you that I would just as soon werewolves be left in the realm of fantasy, but I can also tell you they are my favorite movie monster. The IDEA of their existence is a tad bit interesting to me, but again, I like being at the top of the food chain. And those who are natives to the area have NO interest in the legend; according to the Hoptown Chronicle, it's even been deemed offensive.
I'm anxious to see what Aaron Deese and Shannon LeGro have uncovered, and if they faced any backlash considering how some locals feel about this piece of folklore.
