Incomprehensibly, a decade has passed since we (myself and producer Ash) pulled into the Dairy-Freeze in Island KY after finishing another assignment.

It's always nice to have something like the Island Dairy-Freeze right there when you're hungry. And we were hungry. And it was right there. So we joined the throngs that were already in line--when aren't there throngs at the Island Dairy-Freeze--and I treated myself to a pizza burger. It was made just like I remember them from my childhood when I would visit the Dennis & Akers Drugstore lunch counter.

The Tri-State Bucket List Tenth Anniversary

It was Ash who thought it was a good idea to record the experience. But it was actually a GREAT idea and, lo and behold, the Tri-State Bucket List series was born...right there in Island KY.

Well, lo and behold part two...I check the time code on the video and yes, friends, we have hit and passed the 10th anniversary mark. It is mind-boggling how many locally-owned eateries we've spotlighted over the past decade.

Of course, some of those wonderful places have had to close; it is a sad reality of the business. But we were never disappointed in any of our stops.

With that in mind, I thought it would be nice to share some images from some of those Tri-State Bucket List trips from the last five or so years. A few of them even happened during heightened COVID protocols, so you'll get a little time capsule of history along the way.

Also, this will double as a great list of suggestions for an upcoming dining experience.

August 2024 marked the 10th anniversary of the Tri-State Bucket List series. During that time, we have visited tons of locally-owned restaurants. Here are 10 from the past five years.
