Lifetime Movie Based on National Manhunt That Ended in Evansville, Indiana to Air This Weekend
While watching the turn of events unfold in the news in April of 2022, I'm sure we were all thinking the same thing. What in the world possessed Vicky White to help accused murderer, Casey White escape from federal prison? I have so many questions about what really happened to lead to their demise. Including why they ended up in Evansville, Indiana.
The Lifetime Network has released the poster and a couple of new trailers for their telling of the events leading up to and during the nationwide manhunt called “Bad Romance: The Vicky White Story.” It debuts this Saturday, October 21st as part of the“Truly Unbelievable Movies,” a Ripped from the Headlines Series.
Lifetime describes the movie like this "Every day for divorced prison corrections officer Vicky White (Wendi McLendon-Covey) is like the movie Groundhog Day – mundane and every day just like the previous. But when new prisoner Casey White (Rossif Sutherland) is brought to her facility, the two develop a secret infatuation. Vicky gives Casey special attention, believing he’s the only man to see her the way she wants to be seen. But when Casey’s inevitable transfer to a lengthy prison sentence approaches, Vicky decides to take desperate action. Risking everything, Vicky manages to break Casey out of jail and takes him on the run, eluding authorities on an eleven-day dash for freedom. For Vicky, even the probable tragedy ahead of them is worth the chance to live life fully once more."
Over the course of 11 days, the two of them ran from authorities in an attempt to start a new life together, but as you probably know their story ended in Evansville, Indiana. Casey White was spotted along with their abandoned getaway truck at a local car wash. They were seen leaving it and getting into a Cadillac. Authorities were able to trace them to the hotel where they were staying.
After a high-speed chase down US Highway 41, they were apprehended. Vicky White was found with a supposed self-inflicted gunshot wound and ultimately succumbed to her injuries. The police found guns, ammunition, thousands of dollars in cash, and wigs to help disguise themselves. Casey White was taken into custody and later requested to be extradited back to Alabama where he is now in the same jail he escaped from.
