Calling all Mrs. Ropers! Calling all Mrs. Ropers! A popular nationwide event trend based on a beloved 70s and 80s sitcom is coming to Owensboro. Finally.

A few weeks ago, I was taking part in the Small Business Crawl in downtown Owensboro. I ran into my friend Ashley Bradshaw and she shared that she really wants to bring a Mrs. Roper-inspired crawl to town. Mrs. Roper, of course, is a beloved character from the legendary television series Three's Company.

Three's Company centered around three friends- Jack, Janet and Chrissy- who lived together in an apartment building owned by Stanley and Helen Roper. The character- Mrs. Roper- has enjoyed a recent renaissance thanks to Mrs. Roper-themed crawls that have been popping up in cities across the country.

Ashley's dream to have one of those crawls in Owensboro will become a reality next month.

The inaugural SPARKY Mrs. Roper Downtown Crawl will kick off at 5pm, Saturday, July 12th at the RiverPark Center. Here's some footage of a similar event in Pennsylvania that inspired ours. It will give you a great idea of what to expect.

As you can see, over 1,000 Helen Ropers showed up in their caftans and red, curly wigs to 'romp' around town.

The Mrs. Roper Downtown Crawl in Owensboro encourages you to 'get ready for a night of fun and drinks as we hit up the best bars and restaurants.' And, what sets Owensboro's crawl apart from others is that you're encouraged to dress up your dog too and you can bring the kids along for a 'scavenger hunt' element. Plus, there will be prizes awarded for the Best Mrs. Roper and the Best Canine Mrs. Roper!
