Calling all history buffs! You'll be excited to know that a new museum is now under development in Kentucky devoted to the American Revolution.

The Sons of the American Revolution

Did you know that the national headquarters for the Sons of the American Revolution is based in Louisville, KY? I would have thought it would be in Philadelphia or Boston or Washington D.C., but nope! The office and enormous library of more than 50,000 books and artifacts is actually downtown in the 'Ville on West Main Street.  Todd Bale, executive director of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution said in an interview with WDRB, "It's right here, accessible to 80% of U.S. population that can drive within 500 miles."

The SAR Education Center and Museum

When Will the SAR Education Center and Museum Open?

The completion date for this project is set for July 2026. Just in time to welcome visitors to celebrate the 250th American Independence Day. Here is a sneak peek of what the SAR Education Center and Museum will look like.

As you can see, the planning for this museum has been many years of hard work. It looks like it will be on par with exhibits you can see at the Smithsonian.
