Opportunity Center Client Gets ‘Radio Famous’ on Popular Owensboro Morning Show
I wrote a story recently about the "fantastic" Joey Newton. Joey, who's a client at the Opportunity Center of Owensboro, got a lot of media attention a couple of weeks ago after it was revealed that he received an autographed postcard from Adam Sandler. Joey had written to Adam (and a variety of other Hollywood stars) as part of the Opportunity Center's Day Training Program.
See, Joey has always wanted to be a star himself. And, through his program, he was able to write to a variety of actors and actresses he considers to be idols. Well, Adam Sandler corresponded back and Joey was PUMPED!
Not only was Joey profiled on our website, various other news outlets covered his story as well. He may not be "Hollywood" famous, but, at least for a few days, Joey was "Tristate" famous. This morning, Joey got another taste of the spotlight.
Joey's "fifteen minutes" expanded considerably today when he joined me on the WBKR Morning Show! I was excited to welcome Joey to the studio to share his story with our listeners.
Plus, I even let him sit in the proverbial "cockpit". I have to confess. He looks like a natural.
During his segment, Joey and I chatted about his big surprise from Adam Sandler and we name-dropped the other celebrities that he reached out to. I also learned that he's a big fan of scary movies- particularly slasher flicks.

You heard that right! This weekend, Joey will be making a celebrity guest appearance at the Special Olympics event in Owensboro and will perform the National Anthem. He gave me a sneak preview this morning and he careered it. Trust me! He's going to be a hit on Saturday.
