Kentucky's own "Houseboat Capital of the World" has now added another jewel to its crown. USA Today held a national poll asking folks to choose the best lake in the country, and Lake Cumberland made it to the top of the list. This comes as no surprise to the thousands of visitors who flock to Jamestown, Kentucky to take advantage of the amazing activities this beloved state park has to offer.
Origin of Lake Cumberland
Lake Cumberland is actually a reservoir that was formed by the Cumberland River when Wolf Creek Dam was built in 1952 as a source to generate hydro-power. According to the Kentucky Department of Tourism, "Lake Cumberland is one of the largest and most visited lakes in the Eastern United States" Mapping at over 100 square miles, it is the perfect spot for any water sport you could imagine.
What to do on the water
