Take a Tour of the Kentucky Candy Factory That Invented the Bourbon Ball
If you've never visited Kentucky's capital, let me highly recommend it to you. For historians, Frankfort is practically a bottomless pit of history; the cemetery that sits high above downtown tells a lot of stories on its own.

But that's only part of your day trip. The beautifully-maintained downtown area makes for a perfect sightseeing stroll, and the Rebecca Ruth Candy Factory & Museum makes for a good "stop you dead in your tracks" visit.
So, until you can get there in person, let's have a virtual look-see.
I love seeing how things are manufactured, and I love that this is one of those places where you can do just that. I've visited once, but wasn't able to tour the factory. I did not, however, leave without bourbon balls, and the best ones I ever put in my mouth, with apologies to everyone I know who makes them. And while Rebecca Ruth Candies specializes in bourbon balls, they offer other amazing delicacies, too.
And, of course, they lean into other Kentucky traditions, as well.
Rebecca Ruth Candy Factory Tours
The factory tours happen Monday through Thursday. That's when production is in operation. But if you can't make it until a Friday or Saturday, you'll still have the time of your life. The tours--during which you will get a free piece of candy--last about 30 minutes and may be scheduled on the Rebecca Ruth Candies website's tour page.
There's nothing like a summertime road trip that also satisfies an aggressive sweet tooth.
