It's funny how life works out. I have known Steve Bridgmon since we were kids at Thruston Elementary School. In the late 70s (yes, way back then), I'm not sure either one of us would have predicted that the careers we have as adults would overlap. But, they have!  With my career in country music, I have served as a guest announcer at The Grand Ole Opry multiple times. Recently, on that very same stage, Steve was crowned Entertainer of the Year by the Inspirational Country Music Association. We've both- somehow- made it from that stage in the cafeteria at our elementary school to one of the most iconic stages in music. Life is certainly full of surprises, coincidences, and possibilities.

Steve was certainly banking on those possibilities when he packed up and moved himself to Nashville in November of 2015. It sounds like a cliché, but that move truly was a leap of faith. He gave up his local teaching position for a shot at a recording career. It clearly was meant to be. By the end of the following year, he landed his very first #1 on the Inspirational Country Chart.

That song, "Angels by Another Name", was the first of many more #1 songs to come. To date, he's had ten of them and is looking for even more with his brand new album, Brave, which will be released to digital streaming services on Friday, June 26th.

However, to celebrate his new release, Steve is having an album release party in Leitchfield, Kentucky a few days before that- on Tuesday, June 23rd. He'll be performing the entire album at The Alice Theatre, which sits in the town's historic and beautiful square. Tickets for the party are just $10 per person and will be available at the door.

The Alice Theatre holds special significance for Steve as well. It was the site of the first round of open auditions for the second season of his series, The Sound of Small Town America. Some contestants from that competition will be on hand for the event and a tribute to Steve. They'll be performing some hit songs from Steve's ever-growing catalog of Inspirational Country Music.

I sat down with Steve on my radio show this week to chat about the big night. Take a listen!

If you'd like to attend, the Brave album release party will begin at 6:30pm. The Alice Theatre/Alexander Hotel is located at 82 Public Square in Leitchfield.

Inspirational Country insiders are in agreement. "This is an album you don't want to miss."
