Owensboro’s Newest Convenience Store Launches Pet Fundraiser That’s a ‘Gas’
Friday's a big day on the east side of Owensboro. The city's brand new convenience store and gas station- Take 10- is celebrating its opening day. Take 10 is part of a new complex that also houses a new Little Caesar's location and Barrel Heads, a new liquor store and tasting bar.
Rick Patel, who also owns Tobacco Road and Liquor Store here in town as well as 54 Wine and Spirits, loves animals and decided to celebrate Take 10's big grand opening by hosting a fundraiser for two local animal rescues.
Starting Monday, April 1st, Take 10 is going to donate ten cents per every gallon of fuel sold to the cause. In fact, Rick has chosen two of them. Five cents per every gallon of gas will benefit the Owensboro Humane Society.
When Cindy Davis, the Humane Society's Executive Director, was notified she was thrilled.
So, were John and Bridget Austin, the other beneficiaries. The Austins (and their legion of pet foster families) run SPARKY- Saving Paws Animal Rescue in Kentucky. April's already a big month for that particular organization. Their annual Bark in Style event, which combines fashion from locally owned boutiques and clothing stores modeled by celebrity guests with adoptable pets, is coming up Saturday, April 13th at Green River Distilling. It's the agency's biggest fundraiser of the year and the Take 10 donation will certainly to add to that tally.
Take 10 is located on Hayden Road in Owensboro right across the street from the Malco Owensboro Cinema Grill and MXT.
