The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit dedicated to patient safety, and it just released its fall 2023 Hospital Safety Grades. I have seen a number of articles promoting the hospitals with the worst safety ratings - a tactic I believe is only being used to get more clicks and views. While I understand it is important to know which hospitals may not be safe for you, I also think it's important to shine a light on the hospitals that have scored exceptionally well.

So, no negativity here, I promise. There is nothing but great news ahead. But first, a word from the Leapfrog Group about how the safety ratings are determined...

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses up to 30 national performance measures from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, and information from other supplemental data sources. Taken together, those performance measures produce a single letter grade representing a hospital’s overall performance in keeping patients safe from preventable harm and medical errors. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade methodology has been peer-reviewed and published in the Journal of Patient Safety.

Here in Southern Indiana, we have a handful of hospitals that have received A or B safety ratings. Before I tell you about those facilities, I want to brag about another fact - the fact that Indiana had 0 hospitals with a D or F rating. Now let's celebrate the following facilities that made the hospital honor roll with an A safety rating.
