The cutoff age for children entering kindergarten in Kentucky has been moved up by two months. Most children who turn 5 by August 1st 2017 would be able to enroll. A child used to have had turned 5 by October 1st in order to enroll in kindergarten.

Senate Bill 24 was enacted during the 2012 regular session and will go into effect for the 2017-2018 school year. Part of the law says each local school board will implement an evaluation process that will help determine a student's readiness for school both academically and socially.

HERE is more information about the evaluation process.
