The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to restrict traffic to one lane on the KY 2266 Ohio River Bridge in downtown Owensboro on Tuesday, May 29,2012.

The lane restriction is to allow routine bridge maintenance.

Also known as the Blue Bridge and the Glover Cary Bridge, the 4,622 ft. structure connects KY 2262 and Indiana State Route 161 over the Ohio  River at Owensboro.

The lane restriction with alternating flow controlled by flaggers is expected to be in place on the Blue Bridge from approximately 8:30 a.m., CDT, to about Noon, on Tuesday.  Motorists should use appropriate caution.   Delays in this work zone should be minimal, generally less than 4 minutes.

Approximately 8,500 vehicles cross the Ohio River on the Blue Bridge between Kentucky and Indiana in an average day.  The structure opened to traffic in September 1940 as a toll bridge.  The tolls were discontinued in 1954.
