It was announced today by Governor Steve Beshear that state grants have been awarded to five Kentucky public riverports. The grants will help fund repairs and improvements.

Over $405,000 in grants was awarded and will be matched by each of the riverports. According to Governor Beshear in a press release, " Our Kentucky riverports play an important role in the movement of freight and raw materials on which business and industry depend."

The Owensboro Riverport Authority received over $118,000 for improvements. These improvements include repair, resurfacing, and extension of the entrance road as well as repair of the river port owned railroad track. Henderson County Riverport Authority received over $41,000 for removal and replacement of damaged concrete dock.

Other riverports receiving grants include Paducah McCracken County Riverport Authority, Louisville and Jefferson County Riverport Authority, and Hickman Fulton County Riverport Authority. For more information on this and other Kentucky news, visit www.Kentucky.gov
