Louisville Getting Closer to Landing TopGolf Sports/Entertainment Complex [VIDEO]
When I went to Minneapolis a couple of years ago, I visited this really cool pub downtown. In fact, it's called Brit's Pub.
If you eat upstairs (recommended), you'll be eating outside. The weather was amazing that day. The food was ridiculously delicious. And the lawn bowling was a nice touch.
Yes, that's right, there was an enormous lawn bowling green in the center of the dining area and it was so cool, even though I don't know anything about lawn bowling.
As far as I'm concerned, that whole concept is magnified a thousand-plus times at TopGolf, the massive chain of sports/dining/entertainment/party venues that is spreading across the nation. And the "sports" in question is, of course, golf.
Those enormous elevated driving ranges have always fascinated me. I'd like to try my hand. No, I'm a lousy golfer but I have fared decently at driving the ball. And I guess I can putt. Getting it in the hole? Well, that's another matter.
But TopGolf is more than just golf. There are entertainment, dining, and party accommodations.
There's one in Nashville. In fact, here's a quick overview (literally):
How cool is that?
Well, Louisville is about to get one and if it goes where the permits indicate, that old Oxmoor Center is about to spring back to life, according to BizJournals.com.
The construction of the massive three-story complex has actually been in the works for the last three years, albeit in the thought-process stage. But now, a variety of permits have been filed that would seem to tell us that the old Sears anchor store in Oxmoor will soon be a distant memory.
What's more, the addition of TopGolf will elevate that area of Louisville. No, it's not dilapidated and rundown--not close--but it HAS been a dining and retail district for multiple decades.
TopGolf feels like it will bring that part of Derby City into the 21st century.
