I was really young when I discovered my love for the movies.  I remember going to the Malco on Tuesday evenings because it was "bargain" night and ticket prices were reduced.  When I was a young kid, we didn't have a lot of money.  At all.  Bargain Night meant two things.  1) We got to go see way more movies than we would have if they were full price.  2) Discounted ticket prices meant we had money for popcorn!  And, let's all be real here, movie theatre popcorn is the absolute best.

So, imagine my surprise this week when I scrolled onto a post from my friends at Malco Theatres.  They're now selling their popcorn in stores!  Check this out.

I reached out to my friend Karen Melton, who's VP and Director of Marketing for Malco Theatres to, pardon the horrible, but appropriate pun, the scoop.  While the bagged popcorn hasn't made its way to retailers in Owensboro yet, it is available to us Malco fans here in western Kentucky.

If you really want to order some for home, you can get it online.  As a matter of fact, Malco is offering it in a variety of family-friendly sizes.  You can order their popcorn in 3-packs, 12-packs and 24-packs.

Look, I will microwave the crap out of some Pop Secret and Orville Redenbacher.  And I have a little jar full of salt that tastes just like it does at the movies.  But having grown up on the Malco's popcorn and power-eating tubs of it all the way through high school and eating a bunch of it at Goldie's Best Little Opryhouse in Kentucky (where they inherited the popcorn machine when the Malco downtown closed), I live for the Malco's popcorn.

In fact, here's a fun memory.  On the first official date Kevin and I ever had, we went to the Pizza Hut (when it was in the building near the train tracks on Frederica Street) and then went to Malco's Plaza Twin to see the movie Dark City.  Years later, I re-created that date and went to the Malco to get buckets of popcorn to have at own when we watched a rented copy of that movie.

The Malco's popcorn and I go way back.  I bet you have that same sort of history.  Well, now, you can buy a handful and taste of movie magic without ever going to the movies.
