Since 2002, the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame has recognized the musicians whose artistry has expanded beyond the Commonwealth and touched the lives of folks across the country or all over the world.

THE KENTUCKY MUSIC HALL OF FAME

Unlike the Country Music Hall of Fame or the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame, the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame does not induct artists on an annual basis. Over the last 20 years, there have been new members announced just eight times--in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2011, 2013, 2015, and 2018.

Noteworthy inductees over the years include Loretta Lynn, Tom T. Hall, the Everly Brothers, Bill Monroe, Grandpa Jones, Ricky Skaggs, the Judds, Mary Travers (Peter, Paul, & Mary), Dwight Yoakam, Crystal Gayle, Florence Henderson, Patty Loveless, John Michael Montgomery, Keith Whitley, the Kentucky Headhunters, Montgomery Gentry, and Billy Ray Cyrus among many others.

MARTY BROWN INDUCTED INTO THE KENTUCKY MUSIC HALL OF FAME

Those "others" now include Carly Pearce, Norah Lee Allen, Paul Yandell, Pete Goble, and Daviess County's own Marty Brown.

MARTY BROWN'S BIGGEST HIT

From 1991, Marty's "Every Now and Then" on MCA Records. It was a very exciting time here in the Owensboro area when his career kicked into high gear. And then his "I'm from the Country"--co-written with Stan Webb and the Kentucky Headhunters' Richard Young--became a top-three smash and a staple on country radio. It is arguably Tracy Byrd's signature song.

THE MARTY BROWN INTERVIEW

Marty stopped by the station for an interview Tuesday afternoon. We talked about the induction AND the ceremony, which is coming up October 28th in Mt. Vernon.

In the interview, Marty mentioned he'll be performing at hit induction, along with Carly Pearce and Norah Lee Allen. You can check out the interview here:

MARTY BROWN'S BUSY SCHEDULE

So yes, in addition to his performance at the induction ceremony, Marty will be on hand for the HGTV Hometown Kickstart in LaGrange on April 29th. In fact, Marty tells me he's busy all the time and that he is wanted as a performer all over the country; he's a big fan favorite in Alaska. And from here, he's headed to Connecticut for a performance.

We congratulate Marty Brown on his wonderful success and this great honor. Hey, I love halls of fame, and now I can say I know someone who's in one.
