Downtown development, the new hospital, convention center, skate park and more were all discussed during the Mayor of Owensboro's monthly visit to the Joe Lowe Morning Show Tuesday June 19 on 1490 WOMI.

Mayor Payne addressed some comments made recently regarding Owensboro being one sided and only concerned with Downtown while parts of the city are in desperate need of attention. The Mayor said this is not even close to being true.

The Mayor talked about Hwy 54, the Southtown Blvd expansion and other projects that are not involved with downtown.

He also vowed to do something about Gabe's Tower. "It's time for us to move on that building. There is nothing there, nothing to save", he commented.

Mayor Payne also gave a pitch for the new Convention and Events Center asking citizens to contact the Global Spectrum Staff if they have any leads on group that may want to be among the first to utilize the new center upon competion.

Those interested are asked to contact Dean Dennis at:

Dean Dennis and Laura Adams with Global Spectrum were on the Joe Lowe Morning Show last week also encouraging Owensboro residents to contact them and give input regarding scheduling conventions and other activities at the center.
