Memorial Day Is Over but Rembering Those lost is NOT
It have only been four days since Memorial Day and yet is seems so long ago. We all went back to our lives and commitments on Tuesday and I doubt many of us gave those graves another thought.
I attended and participated in several services last week and I made a decision. Instead of just setting aside one day to remember our fallen heros, I am going to attempt to take a few minutes of everyday for reflection.
I actually began that practice several years ago when I decided to play the National Anthem every morning as part of the Joe Lowe Morning Show. I get many comments about that song. Most are positive but every once in a while someone calls to say it gets boring hearing the same thing over and over again. I always ask them the same thing. "I don't think those who paid for your freedom with their lives would agree". Usually they hang up after calling me a name. That's OK, many fought to give them the right to feel that way. I just happen to think the Star Spangled Banner is a beautiful song telling a story about a nation, the only nation on the planet, that people are willing to put lives on the line to get into and not out of.
I took some photos of the memorial services in the last week. The really good ones are from fellow American Patriot Larry Bidwell.
I hope these photos will encourage you to set aside a minute or two each day reflect and give a prayer of thanks for fellow citizens who gave all for our country and our way of life.
