Earlier this year, my friend JD and I went to Holiday World's Platinum Season Pass Holder Preview Day. It was awesome, by the way.  We rode Voyage three times (once in the front, twice in the back) and Thunderbird four times (twice on in the right front seats and twice in the left front seats).

While we there, I ran into my friend Eric Snow, who is Holiday World's Vice President.  I have known Eric for a long time and we share a love for thrill rides and attractions.  He asked us if we had ever heard of Meow Wolf.  He had just visited one of the locations and was blown away.

Meow Wolf's mission sounds simple enough. It's to inspire creativity through art, exploration and play so that imagination will transform the world. Now, you're probably thinking, "What in the heck does that actually mean?"

Well, there's no doubt that Meow Wolf is a little difficult to describe, so I combed YouTube for some videos that will illustrate what the experience looks like, sounds like and feels like. It's flipping awesome.

The very first Meow Wolf was established in Santa Fe about six years (in 2016) and it's billed as the House of Eternal Return, a "mind-bending, explorable art experience." Here's a cool walk through of that exhibit.

Last year, two more Meow Wolf exhibitions were built- one in Las Vegas and one in Denver.

The Las Vegas location is the Omega Mart and looks like a giant grocery store. The only thing? There's much much more than meets the eye.  This is so freaking cool.

The Meow Wolf in Denver, which opened last September, is the Convergence Station. It's the location my friend Eric visited and raved about. To date, it's Meow Wolf's largest installation and it looks impressive, vast and magical.

Well, guess what? In May of this year, Meow Wolf announced two more permanent locations here in the U.S., both of which will be built in Texas- one in Grapevine and the other in Houston.

The Grapevine exhibition will be located at Grapevine Mills (a huge experience and retail establishment) and will open next year. Here's a rendering of what the entrance will look like.

The Houston exhibit will be located in the Fifth Ward of Houston, a popular arts and culture destination, and will open in 2024.

What do we need to do to get one here in Kentucky? Do we have a popular arts and culture destination in this state?  I say- YES!!!

According to the company's press release issued yesterday, Meow Wolf is "known for its inclusivity and their support of historically marginalized communities." They also have a strong corporate commitment to working with local and emerging artists.

Uh, hello!  Based on that criteria, I would like to nominate the city of Louisville. True, I live in Owensboro, but I am a University of Louisville graduate, spent some of the best years of my life living minutes from downtown and still spend a considerable amount of time in that city. I love it.

Louisville has a rich history of diversity and is home to the annual St. James Court Art Show, the Speed Art Museum and thriving downtown development. To me, Meow Wolf and Louisville seem like a match made in the Omega Mart, or the House of Eternal Return or a match made at the Convergence Station.

Can we pretty please get a Meow Wolf here in the Commonwealth?
