Owensboro’s NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield is back in the news. He spoke with Sporting News and he still denies the charges of methamphetamine usage and stealing property.

In May of 2009, Mayfield was suspended by NASCAR after he tested positive during a drug test.

Jeremy told Sporting News, “I don’t use drugs, I don’t drink. I might have a couple of beers a year. Maybe. I don’t steal. I haven’t broken into any building, stole race cars like it was told on the news. That’s not what happened. Did I have possession of stolen property? Sure I bought some stuff from a guy thinking it wasn’t stolen.”

Last January, Mayfield pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors of possession of stolen property and one of possession of drug paraphernalia.

He still claims the drug test showing meth was a false positive because he was mixing Adderall and an allergy medicine.
