Owensboro Parks and Recreation Department to offer 4th annual Owensboro Memorial Day Half Marathon

The Owensboro Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the 4th annual Owensboro Memorial Day Half Marathon on Monday, May 27. The race will begin and end at Kentucky Wesleyan College, circling around the city of Owensboro as it completes its 13.1 mile route.

 Buying in before May 6th costs $50 and the 7th through the 24th is $60, but you must purchase before the day of the race.  With the purchase you will recieve a t-shirt, breakfast, a medal and be eligible to win door prizes. 

The race starts at 7a.m. and residents are encouraged to check-out the race route at www.owensboroparks.org and of course be careful if you are driving on the race route that morning.  It should all wrap up around 10 a.m.

Awards will be given to the winning male and female runners.  as well as the top three finishers in each division.  A finish time of 3 hours or less means a finisher's medal. 

The Owensboro Parks and Recreation Department is offering business and organizations the chance to participate in the event by sponsoring one of the 13 mile markers along the course.  Cost for businesses is $100 and you will be able to display a company sign at the marker.

Volunteers are also needed.  Come out and enjoy the race of 300+ runners.
