Ok, so I hear Jaclyn talking every so often about her marathons and different running events, and I can't help but think "That is something I could never do." I usually think this because I admit it, I am very out of shape. I think it could easily take a year or more to get me ready for one of these events.

If this sounds like something you would say as well, then this event may be the thing for you (and me!). The Owensboro Parks and Recreation department is holding a "Couch to 5K in 5 Weeks" event.

What is really neat about the event is that no matter what your level of expertise in running, the program will help get you ready for a 5K. It will progressively prepare the participants to run a 5K (or 3.1 miles, which sounds a lot easier to me than 5K!) in a safe, fun, and supportive environment. Several different areas will be discussed including training methods, pacing, flexibility, speed development, strategy, and motivation. The program is for ages 16 and older.

The Classes meet Tuesdays and Thursdays, February 12 through March 14, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Moreland Park. The cost  is $32 per person; participants must register on or before January 25.
