The Owensboro Police Department is looking for new police officers and they've created a special event that will allow folks who are interested in joining the force to meet officers and get more information about the job, its requirements and the role of a police officer in our community and the benefit of not just backing the blue, but becoming a part of it.

Andrew Boggess, OPD's Public Information Officer, joined Angel and me today to chat about the Recruitment Open House, which is later this evening. Andy has been with OPD for 11 years now and is in charge of this evening's open house.

To give you an idea of what it's like to serve on the Owensboro Police Department, here's a great recruiting video that was created back in 2019.  In addition to focusing on the duties of patrol officers, the video also highlights some of OPD's specialty units and allows you the chance to hear from people working in local law enforcement.

If you like to learn more about the department and job opportunities there, make your plans to attend this evening. As Andy mentioned, the hiring process will be discussed in full so potential recruits will be aware of the next steps and what to expect as they begin their journey of joining the Owensboro Police Department.

Sights and Sounds From Inspirational Honor Flight

What a blessing to be a part of something so monumental for these brave men that served our country. Veterans boarded a plane in Louisville to visit their memorials in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday. They honored those who lost their lives while serving our great country. They also remembered fellow veterans and military members that sacrificed so much. Here's a look back at that special day.
