Friday, March 24th will mark the end of an era here at WBKR. Angel Welsh, my morning show co-host for the last seven years, will be signing off for the very last time. Angel is leaving Townsquare Media to fulfill her lifelong dream and mission of opening an emergency shelter for women and children. The shelter, which is called My Sister's Keeper, was just an idea a couple of years ago.

Now, thanks to Angel's vision, the work of an incredible Board of Directors and the generosity of our community, that idea is about to become a fully-realized reality.

Angel's time here at WBKR has been a blast and she recently shared some of her greatest memories about her time on the morning show and her plans for the future with My Sister's Keeper.

Obviously, with Angel's departure, I am in the market for a new co-host. Late last week, the official job post was published and I am now accepting applications. I am looking for someone to take over this mic! Yep. That's Angel's mic in the studio and her view each morning.

Now, if you're thinking that this sounds like a really fun and rewarding opportunity, but you're worried that you don't have previous radio experience, don't worry about it. Honestly, that doesn't matter to me at all.  Angel didn't.

Here's how she recalls our conversation leading up to her getting hired.

I still remember it like it was yesterday, I had called Chad to ask him for a favor not knowing he was trying to get in touch with me.  I left a message on his phone and then walked into TJMaxx to find Jaclyn Graves.  I hugged her neck and said "I just called Chad".  Little did I know she had just said goodbye to WBKR earlier that day.  She told me Chad was on location somewhere and probably wouldn't answer.  Before she could even finish her sentence my phone rang and lo and behold it was Chad!  He thought I was calling to ask about the job LOL.  Right there in the middle of the store he asked me to apply to work for WBKR.   I said I have no experience.  He said "I can train you for that, I can't teach personality".

So, if you think you have the personality required to take over Angel's seat on the WBKR morning show, APPLY! Don't be shy about it. DO IT!
