Four community organizations will benefit from a new grant program sponsored by PRIDE (Public Responsibility in Designing Our Environment). The board selected four recipients during its meeting April 12.

The following organizations will each receive a $250 grant for beautification projects:

                         Joe Ford Nature Center

                         Mentor Kids

 Owensboro Area Museum of Science and History

                         Owensboro Family YMCA

The grants were given to celebrate PRIDE Day, which will be April 21. PRIDE is a community-based group focused on the aesthetics of Owensboro-Daviess County.

The grant proposals were all for beautification projects in public spaces. They were evaluated based on visibility, need and viability. PRIDE received numerous applications, and board members hope to be able to offer the grant program again, possibly in November for the fall PRIDE Day.

We at TownSquare Media salute the PRIDE organization and the four community service groups who, using the awarded grant money will continue make our community a more pleasing place to live and raise families.
