Owensboro Church Hosting an Elegant Dining Experience for Area Homeless

RiverTree Church here in Owensboro has decided to give the area homeless an experience they may have never had and one they won't soon forget.  On Saturday night, February 19th, the church will host an elegant/formal dinner for local individuals in the recovery community and those who are a part of our homeless population. And, by the way, the dinner is open to people who are served by recovery and homeless agencies as well as providers from those agencies.

According to RiverTree Outreach Leader, Brandi Harris, the theme for the night is "LOVE" and special guests for the evening will be treated to a formal, elegant setting and will be served a deliciously well-prepared meal served to them by volunteer waiters and waitresses.  Each attendee will also be gifted personal care items he/she may be in need of.

Brandi and RiverTree pastor Ethan Lyne joined Angel and me earlier this week in the WBKR studio.  They shared with us the inspiration behind this inaugural event and to give us a sneak preview of what to expect.

As you heard in the interview, a lot of different volunteers from other area churches and organizations have stepped up to the plate to assist.  In fact, one of our personal favorites, Maria Kelly, owner and operator of Nona's Market, has agreed to cater the event.  I have been to a variety of events that Maria has catered and they are always incredible.  She caters Girls Inc.'s annual Red on the River event and her tablescapes and food are unmatched.  She's tremendous.

RiverTree Church is located at 600 Salem Drive here in Owensboro.  The dinner will begin at 6pm.
