The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has announced plans for construction along Kentucky 2121 / Southtown Boulevard. A portion of that road from Goetz Drive to Martin Luther King Boulevard/Farmview will be closed for approximately 45 days beginning Monday, April 16.

This closure means the DCPS Transportation and Maintenance Departments will not have access to their front entrances on Southtown Boulevard. School buses and department staff will reach those sites by using an entrance that extends off the Burns Middle School driveway.

School buses that travel down Southtown Boulevard as part of their routes will utilize alternate routes during the duration of this construction period. Some buses will use the U.S. 60 bypass to the Carter Road exit and others will use Martin Luther King Boulevard.

“Our drivers do an excellent job of identifying alternate routes during situations like this,” said Wayne Wright, DCPS director of transportation. “However, there may be some delays in transporting students whose routes are affected by these detours. We appreciate the patience and understanding of our parents, students and staff as we continue our focus on providing safe and efficient transportation for our students.”
