Sweet and Beefy Indiana Dog Can Be Part of Your Family [VIDEO]
Allow us to introduce you to this week's Pet of the Week from the Vanderburgh Humane Society.
Chomper here! I’m a 3-year-old terrier mix and long-time resident of VHS. If you couldn’t already tell, I’m a very sweet and beefy boy. Sometimes I underestimate my own beefiness, so look out toddlers—I WILL bulldoze over you. I generally love everyone I meet and play well with other dogs. I’m very treat-motivated and LOVE belly rubs and car rides. I’m heartworm positive, but the VHS will treat me (at no extra cost to you) once I’m adopted and can recover in a home. Come out and meet me, I promise you’ll immediately fall in love with my goofy side! My adoption fee is $25 thanks to the Bissel Foundation and includes my neuter, microchip, and heartworm treatment.

LOOK: Here Are 30 Foods That Are Poisonous to Dogs
To prepare yourself for a potential incident, always keep your vet's phone number handy, along with an after-hours clinic you can call in an emergency. The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center also has a hotline you can call at (888) 426-4435 for advice.
Even with all of these resources, however, the best cure for food poisoning is preventing it in the first place. To give you an idea of what human foods can be dangerous, Stacker has put together a slideshow of 30 common foods to avoid. Take a look to see if there are any that surprise you.
