The stop arms on school buses in Kentucky have been around for at least 30 or more years. However, some drivers continue to ignore what is essentially a safeguard for kids getting to and from school. Save for emergency vehicles, it is illegal to pass a school bus.
The first week of the 2012 Session was a combination of the ceremonial and the new. We gaveled in on Tuesday with the traditional establishment of the membership of the Senate and approval of our chamber’s rules. Over 200 bills have already been filed in the General Assembly and will start making their way through the committee process beginning in earnest next week.
A couple of new bills have been prefiled for the 2012 Regular Session of the Kentucky Legislature. One will help students further their education with a tax credit for individuals and businesses that provide scholarship funding for needy children. The second will overturn a bill that allows legislators to combine their retirement plan with other state funded plans.
