Breakout star Lupita Nyong'o burst onto the scene with her stirring performance in Steve McQueen's '12 Years a Slave,' and now she earned herself the 2014 Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.

The 2014 Oscars, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, started off with a bang. The comedienne, who previously hosted seven years ago, took the stage and immediately made it her own. Like any host worth her salt, she took the material given to her and blended it with her own specific persona, giving the telecast a gentle and amusing start.

After winning Best Supporting Actor at the 2014 Golden Globes, Jared Leto has taken home the same title at this year's Oscars ceremony for his role as transexual Rayon in 'Dallas Buyers Club.'

The 2014 Oscar winners were announced Sunday, March 2 during the awards ceremony, hosted by celebrated comedienne Ellen DeGeneres and broadcast live by ABC.

Comparing anything that isn't actual slavery to slavery is pretty tasteless and generally a really bad idea. Comparing a rich and successful actor's career to slavery is, well, a really bad idea.
