For as long as I can remember when I hear about racing I've thought of the Hayden Boys in Owensboro. It was just recently announced that Roger Hayden will retire at the end of the season.
At the time of Nicky Hayden's tragic accident this past May, his younger brother Roger was testing his bike at Pittsburgh International Race Complex. On Sunday, Roger returned to Pittsburgh to score his second victory of the season.
Professional motorcycle racer Roger Hayden, Owensboro native, is auctioning off a pair of his race boots for a 12 year-old boy recently injured in a race. Gage Beland of Lake Odessa, Michigan was in a bad crash on March 10th while racing the Volusia, Florida flat track, the same track the Pros raced on the day before.
Roger Lee Hayden, Owensboro’s award-winning and record-setting
motocross racer, will be at West Louisville Elementary School at 7:30 a.m.
Thursday, Sept. 15, to help “jump start” the school’s High Attendance Day
activities.
Hayden will sign autographs and present posters of his racing team to
students, and share motivational messages encouraging good attendance at
school...
