May 1st is National School Principals' Day. Here's a tribute to Mr. Aubrey Pendley, who was principal at Thruston Elementary School in Daviess County, KY for nearly thirty years.

It is National School Bus Driver Appreciation Day and I am celebrating my former bus driver. Evelyn Keown drove for the Daviess County Public School System in the early 1980s.

I remember March 30th, 1981 like it was yesterday. I was sitting in class at Thruston Elementary School when the mom of two of my classmates ran into the school screaming, "The president has been shot!"

In the late 1970s, I attended Thruston Elementary School just outside the city limits of Owensboro, KY. I just recently learned about the man the school was named after.

If you went to Thruston Elementary School in Daviess County, Kentucky, you can answer that question instantly. That school served what may be the worst school cafeteria meal in history!
