What’s in a Name

 My name is Bruce R Pierce, although through my life, I have been called other things.  Some good some bad but I have been called many things.  When first asked if I would write for this Web Page the person asking wanted to confirm my Political orientation; he suggested Conservative, Right Wing or even Libertarian.  

Let me confuse you as much as him.  I’m not really a Conservative because I don’t want to maintain the way things are now or even 75 years ago.  I’m with the exception of technological advancements; let’s turn the “way back machine” 200 years.  It makes my head hurt to understand the full meaning of Right Wing as opposed Left Wing except when it comes to birds or buildings.  So that when I said; I’m for Liberty, now it gets real confusing, and that makes me a Liberal.  How can that be? If you have read my “Letters to the Editor” or even heard me speak, you have to be anything but liberal.  So you’re a Libertarian to that I said yes but technically I’m also a Liberal.  Then I went on to explain; Liberty, Liberal and Libertarian come from the same Latin root word; Wikipedia explains it best, Words such as liberal, liberty, libertarian, and libertine all trace their history to the Latin liber, which means "free".  I believe in being “FREE” that makes me a Liberal and even though most Conservatives and Right Wingers will mostly agree with me there will be times even they will wonder what Planet I’m from.  To set things straight I’m actually from California before it became a “Socialist Republic”.  Yes I’m “not from around here” I   made Kentucky my home and I have lived here with my family for over 18 years.  I’m happy here because I enjoy the Country Side, Seasons and most of all the People.  So what do I believe in? The top three for me are; Love the Lord God with all your heart, mind and soul.  Love your neighbor as yourself.  Have fun while you’re doing it.  I hope this introduction has left you with a sense of who I am without answering too many questions about me as I want you to come back for more.
