The Parrish Picnic Season Has Begun

For the second year in a row I had the honor of broadcasting live from the Our Lady of Lourdes Church Picnic this past Saturday afternoon. It was a wonderful experience. After all, what's not to like, great food and plenty of it, games, prizes, great food and plenty of it, air conditioned bingo hall, great food and plenty of it. Did mention the food was great and there was plenty of it?

This year they added something special for the kids and their parents. For $5 the kids got an armband giving them admission to a special secure play area with the Incredible Inflatables. Kids could play all they wanted while the parents checked out the games and other events. Kids were safe, secure and had a great time being entertained until Mom or Dad came to get the to go eat.

There is alway carry out for those who's schedule does not permit time for the entire picnic experience. I still think something is missed by not eating in the "all you can eat Parrish Hall". Not only is Daviess County BBQ the best you also get the baking and cooking talents of the Ladies in the Parrish with desserts and side dishes. Did I mention it's all you can eat?

Our Lady of Lourdes Picnic is over now but there are church picnics in Daviess County and the surrounding area right up thru September.

My favorite is the Maple Mount Picnic scheduled for September 9. Every parrish in the area and many from hundreds of miles away participate in the "Grandpappy of em all" for the benefit of the Ursuline Sisters.

If you have not attended one of these fun filled events....go.  A few words of warning, the food and fun are addictive but you have to watch out for the politicians.  Church Picnics never seem to run out of politicians.
