Voter Registration Deadline Coming Soon for Indiana and Kentucky – Here’s How to Register

Thanks to the actions of George Washington and his fellow revolutionaries some 240+ years ago when they successfully booted the British Empire out of the country so they could run things the way they wanted to run them, we are able to have a say in who represents our interests at all levels of government through the process of voting. It's a right we get to exercise on the first Tuesday after the first Monday every November, but in order to be a part of the process you have to be registered first, and if you're not by a certain date, then you won't get the chance to exercise that right.

The deadline for registering differs from state to state. For those of us in either Indiana or Kentucky, that date is Monday, October 7th (2019). I'm writing this post on Tuesday, October 1st, 2019, so obviously that doesn't give you much time.

Fortunately, thanks to the wonders of technology, getting registered by then only takes a few minutes and can be done online. Click the button below that corresponds to your state to get started.

If you live in Illinois, you have a bit more time before you need to be registered. February 19th, 2020 to be exact to register online or through stand mail. However, Illinois does differ from Indiana and Kentucky in that you can register in person at your county's Office of Election Authority until March 17th, 2020.

Once registered, start reading up on the candidates running for election on your ballet so you can cast your vote behind the one you like (or the one you dislike the least). If you're not sure who's on your ballot, the website, Vote411.org is not only a great resource for finding out, but it also provides tons of information on elections happening all across the country no matter where you live.

And remember, as the old saying goes, if you don't vote, you can't complain.
