Weekend Sports – From Sochi to the NBA

The Sochi Winter Olympics got underway over the weekend and the highlights are rolling in quicker than the tweets from frustrated and sickened media people dealing with their not so lovely hotel rooms.

American Sage Kotsenburg captured the very first gold medal in men's slopestyle and Hannah Kearney came in a dosappointing third place and took home the bronze in women's moguls. the Team USA women's hockey club defeated finland 3-1 in Group A preloiminary round play. Bode Miller finished a distant 8th in men's downhill. The USA picked up the bronze in the first ever mixed team figure skating competition and Jamie Anderson made it an American sweep of the new olympic sport slopestyle by winning the gold in the women's competition on Sunday. NCAA Basketball saw 5 of the top 25 suit up and play Sunday and two of them suffered upset losses. Syracuse is now 23-0 after handing Clemson a 57-44 loss. Marcus Smart from Olkahoma State no so.. smart after what he did in yesterday's game agains Texas Tech. He was suspended for three games as of yesterday by the Big 12 for shoving a fan in the closing seconds of the Cowboys loss at Texas Tech.
