Kentucky is going to be absolutely rockin’ this summer!

With concert choices that include Joan Jett, Poison and Pearl Jam, you may not find a better place than Kentucky to catch a classic rock show. And on top of that, there’s plenty – and I mean PLENTY – of modern rock bands hitting the Bluegrass state from June-August this year.

Tickets for some of these shows are on the pricey side, but for the hardcore rock fans out there who want to see a show without breaking the bank, you can Google “Rock Concerts in Kentucky” and find a ton of concert tickets (especially in the Louisville area) featuring lesser-known bands that cost between $10 and $25.

And for those who don’t mind the large crowds and higher ticket prices, Bourbon & Beyond is the first place you should check out. That’s because you can see multiple performances from some of the biggest names in Rock and Roll at a single show!

Bourbon & Beyond

Bourbon & Beyond will hit the Highland Festival Grounds in Louisville on September 15-18. So let’s break down who’s headlining B&B, and when:

Thursday, September 15:

Jack White, Alanis Morissette, Father John Misty, The Revivalists, Japanese Breakfast

Friday, September 16:

Kings of Leon, Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell, Lukas Nelson & POTR, Courtney Barnett

Saturday, September 17:

Pearl Jam, Greta Van Fleet, St. VIncent, Crowded House, Cold War Kids, Elle King

Sunday, September 18:

Chris Stapeton, The Doobie Brothers, NeedToBreathe, CAAMP, Marcus King, YOLA

If you can’t make it to Bourbon & Beyond – no worries. There are a ton of other Rock concerts happening in Kentucky this summer.

For me, seeing Joan Jett would be a dream. But there’s also a part of me that lives for 80s rock ballads, so Poison would be a close second. I can’t tell you how many times the song “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” got me through a high school breakup.

Fun Fact: I saw Hinder (which is on this list) in concert at the peak of their popularity in high school. Buckcherry opened for them and, as old as I feel right now, it was awesome at the time. I have no regrets.
