All hobbits are welcome! Whether you want to book a vacation, or just tour the property, these mushroom houses will be like stepping into a fairy-tale. I had a chance to talk to some families who toured these storybook homes in Charlevoix, Michigan and they shared some photos and memories with us.

Just 30 minutes north of my home town, I guarantee that you'll be charmed by Earl Young's Mushroom Houses, in Charlevoix, Michigan. I grew up just outside of beautiful Traverse City, Michigan which is known for having some of the best beaches in America. Just a short drive away, off the shores of Lake Michigan, you'll also find the Sleeping Bear Dunes which is a big vacation destination. Travel a couple hours north and you can experience Mackinac Island. I could go on and on about why your next vacation should be in my great state of Michigan. There's just so much to see and do as a family, all while social distancing.

You'll want to be sure to add Earl Young's Mushroom Houses to your Northern Michigan vacation agenda. You can book a house to stay in or take a tour, just like our four families below had the chance to do recently. Thank you to the Bates, Kalkys, Novinsky and Perkins families for sharing their photos and memories with us!

Here's what Mushroom House Tours had to say about the Mushroom Homes and their history. "Designed and built by Charlevoix native and legend Earl Young, the Mushroom Houses are 28 of the most fascinating stone structures ever built. An avid nature lover, Young constructed each house from the stones and boulders that line the miles of shoreline in Northern Michigan."
