WKRP’s Gary Sandy on the Joe Lowe Morning Show

Gary Sandy will always be Andy Travis to me. Travis was the program director on the classic TV Show WKRP in Cincinnati. The show ran from 1978 - 1982 and is still funny in reruns. Gary is in Owensboro this week for the International Mystery Writers Festival. He and Riverpark Center Marketing Director Travis Estes came by the Joe Lowe Morning Show Tuesday Morning. The 15 minute interview went  a bit long but it was fun radio.

During the 25 plus minutes we discussed radio theater, WKRP, Dayton Ohio, Owensboro, Life after WKRP, and the Mystery Writers Festival in addition to other things.

Sandy is very easy to interview. His laid back style lends itself very nicely to Owensboro listeners. The time flew by. It was like three old friends getting together for morning coffee.

Sandy is no stranger to Owensboro and the Mystery Writers Festival. He loves the town and even came in a few days early to enjoy the area in addition to learning his lines for the radio drama.
